Mesh network connectivity works only with the same model type/family of access points like RG-RAPxxx to RG-RAPxxx/RG-EGxxx (i.e RG-RAP6262-G, RG-RAP2260-G, RG-EG105GWx) or RG-EWxxxx to RG-EWxxxx (i.e RG-EW3200GX, RG-EW1800GX, RG-EW1200).
To create a mesh network, we would need the devices to be on the latest firmware version. There are several ways to do this and one of it is using the Ruijie Reyee mobile app together with the desktop/PC web browser. You will need to create the project and scan to add the devices and update to the latest firmware.
If you have an EG105GW(T) or multiple gateway devices in a project, please see link below for additional information:
Update: We can disable SON on the EG105GW so it will not try to manage other devices and it can still be setup as an AP at the same time to have the same subnet with the WAN network on it's LAN interface.

Firmware updates can only be done when the device is wired and connected to the internet.
Once the firmware is updated for all the devices, we will delete the mesh AP device from the project and factory reset the mesh device. The mesh device is the AP on the far end and only using the PoE for power. It connects by wireless mesh to the main AP and redistributes the wireless signal.
Once everything is updated, we will connect the device similar below. AP1 is the main access point, AP2 is the mesh access point. We will need to delete the AP2 from the project and factory reset the AP2 access point.
To add the device using a web browser, login to the project and go to Configuration > Devices > (Wireless) AP Mesh. Enable Mesh if it's not yet enabled and click "Scan Mesh AP". When you do a scan, it will show the model and the MAC address of the device so you will need to remember the MAC address of the correct device.
Click Scan Add Mesh-AP to begin scanning for the Mesh Devices.
This will begin the scanning of devices that can be meshed.
Tick the box with the access point you want to join the mesh and click "Pair". The paired mesh device will show up in the devices, but it might take up to 5 minutes for the dashboard to update.
Mesh devices will be shown here and also the AP devices when they are online. For multiple mesh devices, we would suggest to turn on "Self-Healing Mesh" as this feature will make the access point find it's way to the main access point (master).
The uplink AP is the hop that the AP use to find the main access point and this will be automatic when you turn on "Self-Healing Mesh" using the eWeb and Advanced settings.
When you are ready, accept the devices that you would like to Mesh and press Pair. This will start the Mesh of the devices.
After some time, the devices will be accepted and paired together.
Both devices are meshed, showing the mesh status and quality of the connection.
