Setup Captive Portal and Voucher Authentication in TP-Link Omada

Created by Dennis Mercado, Modified on Sat, 25 May at 2:54 PM by Dennis Mercado

This feature will work using a router and controller device like the ER7212PC.

The main steps are below:

1. Create an SSID with Open authentication (no password)

   a. Go to Settings > Wireless Networks > WLAN. Create an SSID, set the Security to None and Apply

2. We will create a Portal that will be used by the Open SSID. The Portal can be for User login or Voucher login.

Creating User Login Portal:

       a. For User login, go to Settings > Authentication > Portal and Create New Portal

       b. Set the Portal Name and enable the Portal. Choose the SSID with Open authentication that we created earlier.

       c. After selecting the SSID & Network, we will choose Authentication Type and select Hotspot, Type: Local User and enable HTTPS Redirection.

You can customize the page design further and click Save.

       d. Go to Local User and click User Management to create Users.

       e. Go to Local Users > Create User

       f. Select the options:

Portal - this is the Portal that we created earlier and we can use All

Username - this is the login for the user

Password - this is the password for the user

Status - Can be set to Enable/Disable

Authentication Timeout - This is the end validity of the user access. The user will not be allowed to connect to the                                                               network after this date.

MAC address binding - If we want to limit how many device a user can use to connect to the network

Maximum Users - How many people can use the same login simultaneously. They will share all the allocations for the                                             account i.e Total Traffic usage

Rate Limit - this can be set to limit the speed of connected devices

Traffic Limit - this can be set to give alloted amount of bandwidth per cycle i.e 10Gb until the Authentication Timeout                                   expiry or if they used up all their bandwidth before expiry, whichever comes first.

       g. After user creation, they can connect to the open SSID and login to the network.
